What is vinyasa flow?

The word vinyasa means "breath-synchronized movement".  This style focuses on linking breath with movement and is often refered to as a moving meditation.  The poses flow from one to another in conjunction with the breath.  Vinyasa flow cultivates strength, endurance, flexability, balance, focus and serenity.


What is power vinyasa?

Power Vinyasa Flow Yoga is a powerful, energetic form of yoga where students fluidly move from one pose to the next while connecting their breathing to their movements. This type of yoga is taught in a heated studio which makes it a vigorous and revitalizing form of physical fitness. It incorporates strength, flexibility, balance, cardio and physical and mental stamina in one session. Baron Baptiste, the founder of this form of yoga, describes this practice as “the perfect blend of sweat and serenity.”


What is astanga?

Though there are multiple origins attributed to ashtanga yoga in general, this important form consists of some specific ideas related to the body poses that are used.  Ashtanga yoga includes an "eight limbed" system, where a collection of eight seperate and unique concepts provides an overall discipline for this type of yoga.


What is restorative yoga?

This is a form of yoga that seeks to achieve physical, mental and emotional relaxation with the aid of props.  The use of props makes it easier for you to maintain balance while you are stimulating and relaxing your body.  While some restorative yoga poses are beneficial to the entire body, others target specific parts of the body, such as the heart and lungs.


What is deep stretch yoga?

This quiet practice targets the deeper tissues that lay beneath the muscle layer.  Beginning with pratapana (gentle simple mevements) to warm up the body, you will be guided into various postures and use the resource of breath as to explore your edge and free congested energy.  This deep stretch class will improve joint flexibility, free stagnation in the muscle tissue, lubricate the joints and foster a quiet, meditative state  This class is taught in a warm room and is appropriate for all levels.
